A SMART DEATH RAILWAY TRAIN RIDE PLANNER
Kanchanaburi visitors with time limits or without car may find it challenging to plan a train ride and make the most out of their time here due to a limited train timetable, and transport concern. Our suggestion (that we gave to some of our guests previously) is that try to integrate other nearby tourist attractions such as Muang Sing Historical Park and Hellfire Pass Memorial into a train ride itinerary, in order not to waste your time while waiting the next train from Namtok station to Kanchanaburi town. Here is an example.

NIGHTLIFE IN KANCHANABURI
Kanchanaburi town centre is relatively new and small and there is a mix of old and new settlements all over the place. Overall, the whole town is rather quiet at night, except the busy tourist street (The River Kwai Road that links with the River Kwai Bridge) and the food bazaar near the bus station that runs quite late. On the River Kwai road, there are numerous cafes, bars and restaurants that can add some excitement if you feel like needing a change or some adventure.
SOCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS
There are numerous charity or not-for-profit organisations in Kanchanaburi, especially ones that concern with poverty or underprivileged children. These organisations or projects mostly focus on the remote or vulnerable areas along the border of Thailand and Mynmar. They mostly concentrate in the districts of Sangklaburi, Thong Paphoom, Saiyok and Muang Kanchanaburi. These projects provide safe shelters, food and education to either Thai or non-Thai children. They are run by foreign and local volunteers. If these concerns are of your interest and you would like to make your own contribution, here is a list of some recommended projects.

SUSTAINABILITY
We would like to urge you to help us reduce the use of resources if it does not cause you any inconvenience. With the hope that our environmentally friendly practices that follow the principle of multi Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle, refurnish etc.) would help reduce the environmental burden on the earth, we are now implementing the following practical measures that anybody should find it easy to follow.
Waste management
In the public area of the property, we separately provide the dustbins for recyclable and non-recyclable garbage. For the kitchen, we make composts and bio-fertilizer from leftovers like fresh vegetables and fruits in order to reduce the quantity of rubbish on a daily basis.
Water saving
For guests who stay more than one night, we simply ask you to put a notice badge outside the door if you do not want a room to be made up or towels to be washed the next day.
Carbon reduction
The Journey House is officially granted LESS certification by the governmental TGO for our efforts to reduce carbon emissions by tree planting in our property
