If you start from the international airports in Bangkok, either Suvananbhum or Don Muang, there are car rental service providers at the airports or you can also contact taxi service kiosks.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT
Air-conditioned minibuses are run by various companies every hour, from 5 am – 8 pm, from the northern bus station hub (in Chatuchak district, on the direction towards Don Muang International Airport) and the southern bus station hub (in Taling Chan district, on the direction towards Nakhon Pathom and Kanchanaburi). Alternatively, for guests that stay on the famous Khao San Rd., there are also companies that operate air-conditioned vans to Kanchanaburi.
BY TRAIN
By train
The train from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi town is run on a daily basis from Thon Buri Station in Thon Buri district, on the other side of Chao Praya River, or on the opposite side of the Royal Grand Palace. A train ride takes about 4 hours, and a train timetable is shown here for your convenience.



PUBLIC TRANSPORT
Local trucks and buses are the main transport in Kanchanaburi that links the town centre to other districts and key tourist destinations in the province. Local orange trucks are mainly operated in the centre and its vicinity, within 10 kms, approximately. On the contrary, public buses run on different routes passing well-known tourist attractions such as Erawan National Park, Saiyok National Park, Hellfire Pass Memorial. Mini-van service between Bangkok and Kanchanaburi
Air-conditioned minibuses/vans are operated by different companies, and in general the most reliable one, in terms of punctuality and driving safety, is Happy brand (with a yellow smiling symbol on its minibuses/vans). These vans run between Kanchanaburi and the southern and northern bus stations in Bangkok, on a regular timetable, approximately every 60 minutes, from 3 am – 8 pm. Time duration by car between Kanchanaburi and Bangkok is 2.30 hours approximately, with a few stops at key pick-up/drop-off points along the way.

Operated frequently on a daily basis, there are minibuses, vans and buses that run to some famous destinations in central Thailand, northern Thailand and the upper South. These include such tourist attractions as Ayuttaya, Chiang Mai, and the beach towns of Hua Hin and Pran Buri in Prachuab Kirikhan. More route details can be inquired at the main bus station in town.
